The story so far

Sweetmeats Creative was founded by Riah Ramparsad and Jacques Van Rensburg as a family venture built on creativity, trust, and collaboration. What began as a small partnership has grown into a close-knit team of family and friends who share a passion for meaningful storytelling and bold visual work.

We believe great production thrives on connection on set, with clients, and in the stories we tell. Every project is approached with care, creativity, and a shared commitment to craft work that feels real, human, and unforgettable.

Meet the Team

At the heart of Sweetmeats is a tight crew who bring their own flavour to every project, each with a deep love for the process, the people, and the pictures that tell the story.

  • Executive Producer | Co-Founder

    Riah keeps the Sweetmeats ship steady. With a background in finance, she’s the organiser, problem-solver, and unofficial HR department the “mom” of the group who makes sure everyone’s looked after. Her mix of structure and empathy keeps projects (and people) running smoothly from start to finish.

  • Director of Photography | Co-Founder

    Jacques started out behind a stills camera before moving into motion, and that photographic foundation shows in everything he shoots. He’s got an instinct for light, composition, and quiet detail the kind of visuals that tell a story without saying a word. Calm, thoughtful, and always chasing great natural light, Jacques brings balance and craft to every project.

  • Art Director / Editor / Designer

    Anya is an art director, editor and designer at Sweetmeat Creative. She holds a Fine Art degree from the Michaelis School of Fine Art, where she developed her passion for design and visual storytelling. Blending artistry with precision, Anya brings authenticity and refinement to every project she works on.

  • Producer | Unit Manager

    Carlo brings a strong background in business ownership and management to his role as Producer and Unit Manager at Sweetmeat Creative. His journey into film began unexpectedly while helping out on video shoots, where he discovered a genuine passion for production and storytelling. Carlo combines his organizational skills and business acumen to keep every project running smoothly, from planning to wrap.

  • Creative Director | Post Production

    Dirk brings ideas to life through rhythm, emotion, and a sharp eye for storytelling. He leads the creative side of Sweetmeats from shaping concepts to crafting the final edit always chasing work that feels honest and alive. With a background in directing and post-production, he loves finding those small, real moments that make a story stick.
